We have returned alive and well (with the exception of some blisters and tender muscles) from our 20  mile sponsored hike, raising money for the Refugee Survival Trust.

20 members and friends of STAR descended upon the quiet village of Balmaha to start the walk at around half ten in the morning.  With a slight diversion round Conic hill (due to tree felling) we walked around Drymen, Carbeth and finally arrived in Milngavie, in the dark, around 8pm.

We choose the numbers of 20 miles and 20 walkers as together this is a combined distance of 400 miles – around the same distance from Glasgow to Croydon, London.  Croydon is the only place in the UK that a person can begin their asylum claim, but the government give NO ASSISTANCE to help these people who, overwhelmingly, have no money to get there

So far we have managed to raise £442.79 and we hope that the total will continue to rise over the next week!  If you would like more info or to sponsor us online please visit – www.justgiving.com/starglasgowstartrek

Here are our before and after pictures!
